Random payment but still no decision

Hi,
I'm still waiting on the decision from my capability for work assessment, but yesterday £306 was paid into my bank account from esa. I'm not due a payment until this coming Friday. I'm getting my hopes up that I've been placed in the support group and have received a payment before the decision letter has reached me, can this happen? I requested and received a copy of my assessment and the assessor put that I'm not capable of any work due to my mental health, anxiety and ptsd.
Thank you for reading.

Usually payment is received before the decision letter so yes potentially this is what the payment is for.

Thank you Poppy, I appreciate you always replying when I ask for guidance on here. Would you know if the esa and pip share decisions or evidence? I've been waiting for a tribunal date since November and from what I've read, could be waiting for months yet. I just wondered if being placed in support group could help with pip claim.

You're welcome. No, in this case it's unlikely they will share information. Being placed into the Support Group doesn't automatically entitle you to PIP because they are different benefits.

Thank you. I've found the whole esa process to be much more simpler and quicker than pip. The assessor in particular was very sympathetic and understanding of my issues and her report reflected that, unlike pip! I will keep waiting and trust it will all come good in the end. Thanks again.
