Text about assessment report received but no assessment done

My son just received a text saying that the DWP has received the assessment report and will make a decision within 8 weeks. Only he hasn't had an assessment! Could this be because I told them how difficult an assessment would be for him and how difficult I would find it to support him? After they nearly cancelled my own assessment because I got so stressed I suppose they have evidence that that is true.
I am a bit anxious that we could have missed a letter due to being homeless but we did give them a correspondence address.
I have been wondering why it was taking so long to get a date for his assessment...
I am still waiting for the result of my MR too.
At least we don't have to face the stress of the assessment on top of being stuck in this noisy hotel.

Sounds like he's had a paper based assessment. These are rare but possible. They do those when there's enough of information to write the report without the need for an assessment.
Now the report has been returned a decision can take up to about 12 weeks, rather than the 8 weeks you were advised.0 -
Thanks Poppy, I was hoping it was something like that and not that we managed to miss the assessment in the chaos our lives are right now.0
