    As someone who needs an accessible bathroom. I can understand when some spaces cannot be structurally made accessible. Like grade listed houses. But it doesn't stop them building the facilities on site which most do, but others do not.

    The train station in our town is currently undergoing some major works. The platform is down a few flights of stairs and they are installing a lift so people in wheelchairs are able to access the trains. I said to the person I was with, that it's great they are making public transport more accessible for people with physical disabilities, but I wonder if they could make it accessible to someone like me? I suppose it boils down to making "reasonable adjustments" with the emphasis being placed on the word "reasonable"? There isn't really anything that can be done to assist someone like me and if there was it would probably be unreasonable to expect as it would be more cost effective to continue funding some kind of alternate transport (like my Motability car) anyway

    I find that when out and "caught short" in a supermarket, if not using the Disabled Toilet which I believe that every person who is registered as disabled should have a Radar Key sent to them like the ability to get a Blue Badge if on a Mobility Scheme as automatic when filling out forms. (possibly in another discussion) the toilet spaces are so small that you can hardly turn round and have difficulty in opening the door and closing it, i.e. access and regress, I know space is a premium but rather two units not three for extra space.  Not that I want to swing a Cat in their.

    I would like as a topic when everyone is ready to suggest, Blue Badge and why they have a different set of forms and criteria to PIP's?  This also includes Blue Badges and mobility vehicles.

    I do agree, that everyone should recieve a Radar Key from the Government. But I must say people whom do not have a disability should not recieve a Disabled Blue Badge as they do not have any type of Disability. 

    I do believe all PIP Forims, Disabled Badge or any type of form has to be different as everyone is applying for them for all different reasons in life.

    @Queen_K, yesThere are always some who abuse the system and believe  I understand but when you think that you only have one body and one Medical History which is all filed on a central computer with the DWP.
      Also some Blue Badge holders are given as the person who they care for may not drive.  This could be for a younger Sibling, and partner who has never learnt to drive but may need to go to hospital and the partner could be at another appointment.  There are others that believe the rules don't apply to them.  But I would have thought that some one who is being treated could get a letter of support explaining that this person is under aged and the carer requires a Blue Badge.  You also have to remember that if you take you Blue Badge and some one else gives you a lift, then that person has to be with you.  But then again in doing shopping for them could also have a letter stating that.

    I have to say I've found the radar key a godsend. Though I do wonder why we should be locking disabled toilets behind a key at all. I'd rather no lock and some non-disabled people using it, than a lock and some disabled people being prevented from using it.

    The problem with that is there's no such thing as being "registered disabled" anymore. This would mean that no one would receive the key.

    There's a very obvious reason for that. The BB is about your ability to walk, PIP isn't just about that. It would be rather odd if the BB form asked you if you could either prepare a meal, make budgeting decisions, wash, dress etc etc.

    Child poverty has always been a problem not only in this country but abroad as well.  How do you send humanitarian aid to both sides in a war where the civilian population are pawns?  On our doorstep, free child school meals and the ability to get a "breakfast club" so that people in that area can take their kids to school earlier to attend and make sure they get a meal at the start of school has now become a priority 
    This is what Google says:
      The clubs are often run by schools, but can also be community-run. Schools themselves are the most common location for breakfast clubs, but they can also be found in churches, community halls, or even commercial premises. Breakfast clubs are sometimes open to children from more than one school. 
    What Google says about Free School Meals:
      The Government recognises the benefits of providing a healthy school meal to the most disadvantaged pupils. The Education Act 1996 requires maintained schools and academies (including free schools) to provide free school meals to disadvantaged pupils who are aged between 5 and 16 years old.
      So why do I read so much about parents who "go without " to give children meals or even to make a "packed lunch?"  
     "Back in the day" we had a milk monitor, who would put small bottles of milk by the "Fire" (yes fire in the nursary) at school so that we had warm milk when it was time to have a "nap" now we have nursaries that include "some" meals in the fee.  The only stipulation is that if the child has alergies, or has a special diet then they must know.  
      I know the government is pressing to get more free spaces to be paid for by them to allow the parents to go back to work, AND, should apply to both parents since there are a few that are House husbands where the female earns more and would make sense for him to be the "home parent" is this allowed now?  I'm not sure as the ones I know claim nothing?  Maybe some one could say were we are on any of this?  Except to mention that we are coming up for an election "soon" and just to mention what has been done say 2 years ago to say six months ago, to now as comparisions.
    Example:  Two years ago I paid my own fees but after filling out forms ( Which ones) now get (What you now get) and how will that change from now to the changes in the new Social Care Act affect your income into the household.
     Sorry one more point:
      Grand Parents now do school runs and pickups for their grand kids, unpaid, how would this affect the household if they could not do it?  (unpaid carers allowances?) amoung all the other little jobs they do?  Also remembering that any change to the income they have affectes the benefits they now claim including their pension?

    Sorry, I am going to digress and go back to the ridiculous Radar scheme. It is pointless as anyone can get a radar key from Amazon. I use 2 City of London pubs. Neither use Radar. In each establishment the disabled toilets are perfect. There is room for me and my mobility scooter, and both loo's are spotlessly clean and well kept. The reason they don't use Radar is because able bodied people can't get in. You have to ask.

    Around the corner from me is a national pub chain. There was a group of young healthy women, and all they did was use a Radar key to use the disabled loo, instead of walking up a short flight of stairs to use the ladies facilities. I got a tad uptight because when I wanted to use the loo I couldn't 'cos one of the young ladies was in there.

    So the Radar scheme is a total waste of time.

    Theres such thing as invisibility disabilities, just becuase those ladies may of looked healthy you can't fully assume that they wern't entitiled to use the disabled toilet or have a radar key. I am abled bodied but have a rader key and use the disabled toilets becuase I have an Ileostomy (stoma) but from the outside I look perfectly normal. I can't count the countless times I have been approached by people who state that its a disabled toilet and I shouldn't use it, where in fact I need to use one at times and am fully entiltled to use one.

    We just can't assume things about a person based on how they look on the outside.
