Hi, my daughter is at uni first year. When she comes home for summer she will be working. I am on UC, housing benefit, council tax support and PIP and waiting for lcwra decision. Will her working affect any of these?

Hi @hilpa, your daughter will be classed as a 'non-dependent'. Entitledto have a good page describing what can happen here: Non-dependant rules - Entitledto
Universal Credit often expects non-dependants to contribute to the household income, however there is no effect if the non-dependant is under 21. You say your daughter is in her first year of uni, is she also under 21? In which case there should be no change to your UC
Your PIP is not means-tested at all so should not be affected at all.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask

If its daily living pip then the non dependant rule to contribute is removed no matter what age they are

It applies to housing benefit and housing element of UC.hilpa said:Thanks Ray, does this apply to Housing Benefit too?
For the avoidance of doubt, as you’re claiming UC you will only be claiming housing benefit if you’re either living in temporary or supported housing. If you’re not then your rent will be paid in with your UC known as housing element. If you are currently the only adult in the house and are claiming single person discount on your council tax, you will need to report the changes to your local Authority when she returns home. Some local Authorities do not apply the student disregard for council tax during summer months.0
