edited March 2024 in Universal Credit (UC)
Hi I’m Ian and cannot get any information regarding my lcwra payment
they received my paperwork and supporting evidence on the 22/1/24 and was it’s been granted a few days later and also the council have told me I don’t have to attend every month or look for work as my oncology doctor told them due to the severity of damage on my spine and throat leaving my unable to eat drink or swallow or have severely limited movement in my neck which I’m constantly in pain and struggle to walk the majority of time it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever work again
it’s now 8 weeks and they will not tell me anything except 1 persons reply was up to 12 weeks and another has said 12 weeks
I can’t understand how I’ve been granted lcwra but it still takes 12 weeks
how am I meant to live on £364 per month at the moment that I currently receive
by the time I pay my £220 monthly council tax and gas/electric bill of 140 per month the is £4 left to live on
can anyone help please
regards Ian

LCWRA is part of UC and the LCWRA element is not paid at all during the waiting period. The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and the extra money is then paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition/provided your first fit note. First payment is then at the end of that 4th month. When it's paid from exactly will depend on the answer to the following questions.

1/ What date exactly did you report your health condition/provide your first fit note?

2/ What date do you usually receive your money each month?

2/ Were there any gaps in your fit notes until a decision was made on your work capability assessment?

Hi @scuzz300, welcome to our community :) I hope you're doing well today! Poppy is very knowledgeable about benefits, I'm certain they can answer your questions far better than I can!

I'll just move this over to our Universal Credit section incase you've any further questions beyond your current ones :)

That means your waiting period is Jan/Feb/March… LCWRA starts from assessment period 1st March to 31st March and first payment will be 7th April. No LCWRA element is owed.

My mistake, sorry! Your assessment periods being 1st to 31st of each month, threw me off a little. They are correct your waiting period is..

    1st Jan to 31st Jan... 1 month
    1st feb to 29th feb... 2 months
    1st March to 31st March ...3 months

LCWRA starts from AP 1st April to 30th April and first payment will be 7th May.
