WCA request

Hi All
Im never in here so sorr to just drop in.

Ive been LCW since 2019. In March 2023 I was due a reassessment and I decided to enquire where it was as I was getting very worried about its approach
JC told me there was a stop on them. I called the whatever dept and they said my case was closed. i didnt understand but never asked further. Now 1 year on they want me in for slaughter.
Ive had phone calls with WC and they were happy with my efforts (chosen all this time to volunteer a couple of times a week as if I must make an effort Id rather it be my choosing/suited) I dont really enjoy it btw and I cannot stand travelling to them.
I recently had my WC call and she was fine with me she even suggested I claim PIP though Ive never even tried and wont.
Now A different person messaged journal and out of nowhere Ive been sent WCA form. Though I havent got it yet.

In this time my mh hasnt got much better. Ive had phone counselling and social prescribing when the word was in hiding. Then waited 10 months(11 by time of 1st appt)  for trauma therapy which I finished a few months ago after 16 gruelling sessions. Sure Ive learned say no.  I no longer beat myself up or push myself to do anything I cant. I dont cope socially any better. I dread people. I could carry on but anyway, whats happened here? where has this come from, its going over and over in my already washing machine head. I hate having to face things and especially justifying my mh.

Sorry to go on.

They are in the process of reviewing those that have LCW so yes being referred for another work capability assessment seems correct to me. If you've received a letter on your journal telling you they are referring you then you should expect the letter in the week or so (delayed due to bank holiday weekend)

You must make sure you fill it in and return it by the date stated in the letter and include any additional evidence you have to support your claim.

There's a guide online here that may help fill it in. Please note, it says ESA50 but the UC50 form is identical.https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/employment-and-support-allowance/help-with-your-esa-claim/fill-in-form-esa/

Once it's returned another assessment is mostly likely because most people have them.

Why are they in the process of reviewing LCW claimants?

Why would I be told March 2023 that my case was closed?

I have filled in the form before.

I get a pitiful 368 thats it if I were a bs er Id not have spent 6 years living penniless, it just wouldnt be worth it would it.

Yes, you filled in the form for your previous work capability assessment but this is a new assessment. Reviews do take place for the majority of people.

Not sure what you mean by “case was closed in 2023”

After me telling my concerns to a community group, where people struggle in manty ways, I was shocked to hear suddenly a few members were now up for these WCAs and /or being pressurised with any old job. Worse still 2 people who can hardly be trusted to get across a road sensibly let alone go to work have been pushed to find work which they managed to escape.
Further investigating found 2 news articles from Nov 23 about a new 'task force' targeting  over 50s and another article,  a pledge to get 1m disabled into work.
It figures that if they think lcwras can work from home, then lcws can, well, work and theyd better just forget the lcw bit.  Im sorry if this strikes you with fear, it has me since I got message but at least now you know......and
ummmm me thinks it strange how this site didnt tell me the head on truth.

I know also in my few years of going to these mh or supposedly mh hangouts/adult playschools/coma centres that theres an army of cunning, point blank liars who do not crack, keep on deceiving everyone, their GP, wasting the hard to get spaces for counselling and therapy, sell their mh prescript meds and happily are living the high life never again to have to do a wca or be checked up on. OMG what a joke... unashamed, smirking at the system thats paying out 3 times the personal money an lcw or ffw is on. These are the people I and many others Im sure  get lumped in with by idiots who jump on the benefit scroungers campaign that was put out there to cause divide. Im *swear* furious at this. Theres people very physically ill that they find ffw too! How sad, disgusting. And corrupt. And broken. And unfair. Despicable wasteful and pernicious system.

Oh to be a male bovine basic toilet.

*mh = mENTAL hEALTH.... if you needed help with that Poppy.

This is regarding the "potential" changes that may happen sometime in the future. It's been very well talked about on here, with way too many threads to mention since the announcement was made in November 2023. You can see more information here. https://www.disabilityrightsuk.org/news/dwp-announces-major-wca-changes-new-esa-and-uc-claimants-2025

The reason I didn't mention it to you was because nothing at all has happened yet and there's been no changes put in place. With a general election expected this year, those changes may not even happen.

Everything is the same as it always has been. Reviews have been suspended pretty much since the start of covid and they have to start back with them at some point.

The good news is that looking at the stats for the WCA for UC you will see that the majority of people are found to have LCWRA. These are the stats up until Nov 2023..

Since April 2019, DWP have made 2.4 million decisions. Of these decisions, 16% of people were found to have no limited capability for work and hence no longer on UChealth, 19% limited capability for work (LCW), and 65% limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA).

    Full stats here.https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/universal-credit-work-capability-assessment-statistics-april-2019-to-december-2023/universal-credit-work-capability-assessment-april-2019-to-december-2023#uc-work-capability-assessment-decisions-and-outcomes
