Thats appauling, this is why benefits are so hard to get for people who desearve it. Hopefully they manage to recover most of the funds back and they should be forced to do 1 year of prison for each million they stole, not just do 6 years and be out again.

A million quid for a year in prison? Sign me up :D

I'm kind of being serious, crooks, especially fraudsters, are usually good at "burying" dirty money. When they get out there will be wealth hidden somewhere waiting for them, in a foreign bank account or whatever, they'll not be poor when they come out

    Sadly :(

Yeah they could easily just either put it in foreign bank account or invest most in cryptocurrency and it couldn't be traced unfortunatley. Its just a shame as most likely they will get a 6 year prison sentance and then get out and be very well off for the rest of their lives. Theres just no real justice that could be served.

All the loop holes you have to go through with checks being done, how did  they manage that

That’s just ridiculous! I do know that a lot of this happened during the pandemic, especially when identity checks were relaxed some what.

I can’t see that level of money ever being repaid back either.

I've always wondered where these people (the same visitors from the EU as me) get their money from?
not working, wearing gold and driving new cars.
When I worked in factories/warehouses, because my wife took care of the children (four of them),
I could at most afford a used car for £300.

i think these type of fraudsters (non british citizens) should be sent back to there own country as they have stolen money from people who actually need and deserve it
