Hey,

I'm currently panicking. I've earned carers allowance for about 2 years, been working for the past 8 months, but I never informed anyone from either social security Scotland or DWP. I've never earned over the limit in that time. I've just declared the change on DWP website. They want me to send payslips. but think I should have done it in social security Scotland. I know I need to speak to someone from SSS as soon as. All of the stories in the press are freaking me out. Can't work out if people are being made to pay back the full amounts from simply not declaring their income but still below the weekly threshold. Any help is appreciated.

What you've read online is those that have earned more than the maximum amount of earnings from working.

If Carers allowance has now been moved to Carers Support Payment then you will need to contact SSS as well.

Providing you never earned more than the maximum amount then it should be fine.

Heya @nsswe2 and welcome to the community. :)

I understand the panic, but that's what the papers like to do, so please try not to worry.  As Poppy has said, the reports are about people who've earned well over the max limit for earnings.

Thank you. Feeling slightly less stressed about it today.
