Respond to the consultation on the PIP reform proposals - official GOV link included

As sick/disabled people this is our chance to officially put forward our invaluable opinions on the DWP's proposed reforms to PIP - by filling in our responses to the DWP's consultation which has been published by the government today. 

The official consultation period will run until 22nd of July - that is the deadline for us to give our response to the DWP's recent PIP reform proposals.

Scroll down till you reach ''Ways to respond - Respond online'', it will then take you to the form. 

It would be a much needed show of force against these cruel proposals if many of us who have lived-experience of dealing with a debilitating disability are able to stand together and put our views forward on these proposals. 

It's important our views are heard, so if you're able to, I'd urge you to please take part.

    Yes, I do indeed hope they're finally on their way out for good - along with their cruel, poorly thought out proposals!

    However regardless of that, when they held the previous consultation on the proposals to tighten the Work Capability Assessment, many of us responded to that form with our views/opinions, everyone from disabled people, academics, doctors, disability advocates, etc - and it seemed after the consultation that the government backed down somewhat in certain areas regarding the more stricter reforms they had initially planned.

    So regardless of whether they are still in power to implement these reforms (which I hope not!), I still feel it's important for us to give our response to this consultation, as opposed to simply hoping it will all work out in the end. If we're given a chance to voice our opinion I feel it's important to take it. Plus our response to this consultation will essentially be landing in the lap of the next government, so it would be nice to let them know how we feel for future sake.

    I have filled out the response, I can't believe they are looking to offer the responsibility to local councils. Local councils are completely unable to cope with the workload they have already and they have an incredibly selfish and unempathetic approach.

    hard going but I enjoyed this bit:

    Evil grin. Behold me, a bent grey haired old lady trundling around dependent on my rollator and not able to use public transport.. Any normal person who saw me would say, "That lady has mobility problems ". Closer examination would reveal a twisted leg, one shorter than the other and limited ranges of movement. How excellent that there is PIP to help me maintain my independence, for instance paying for the taxis I need to attend my GP practice for routine blood-tests monitoring my autoimmune disease. Not. Because I can walk more than 200 yards I score 0 for mobility. Which is farce but I get the ADL bit.

    14.Should we consider adding any new activities? If so, which activities should be added and why?

    Just set a sensible intelligent definition of mobility

    it's my party-piece, leaning on my rollator and telling people the DWP doesn't think there's anything wrong with my mobility, anything I might actually need help with. Yes, they are funny in a sick sort of way.

    But the sheer hilarious brass nerve of that which fortunately due to the impending election is almost certainly now high comedy. No, no, we're not going to give you money, we're going to instead give you physio and mental health support and everything that you should have been getting as a matter of course,and that, had you been getting you might even be on the road to recovery and not need to apply for PIP, and make out we're great benefactors by so doing.
