Unexpected early PIP review - help!
I’m freaking out a little bit here and am looking for some reassurance/answers from you guys - if that is okay. I was awarded enhanced PIP - both parts - it was a 4 year award. Here I am 1.5 years into my award and I received a letter this morning that they want to review me - via telephone call - next week! Why am I being reviewed now and is anyone else in the same boat? I’m so scared that I will lose my PIP and my motability car.

They don’t usually contact you this early…but it is entirely their right to request review at any time….same as it’s your right to request an earlier review2

I didn't know they could just arrange a review...I always knew the dwp could reiew awards early but I was under the impression you had to fill in a review form before an assessment was arranged....unless it's a light touch review ? I'm not sure...can one of the 'advisors' shed some light on this?
Hope all goes well for you Branwenmom. X1 -
The accompanying leaflet has a section: ‘Why did we choose you?’pinkrose said:I didn't know they could just arrange a review...I always knew the dwp could reiew awards early but I was under the impression you had to fill in a review form before an assessment was arranged....unless it's a light touch review ? Hope all goes well for you Branwenmom. XWe selected your name at random from details we have of people with an award in payment. It also states that the review will be carried out by the Performance Measurement team, which is part of the DWP.0 -
They are reviewing your claim to make sure it’s correct. They do this sometimes at random, as it says in the leaflet you received. You will need to make sure you answer the call and any questions they have. If you don’t then your PIP could be stopped.

Thank you poppy, pinkrose and kitkat23 for your replies. I feel more at ease about it all now, and know I have everything I need to support my claim. It’s just a little daunting and makes me feel that I need to justify my entitlement to my benefits. After 30 years of working this has all been new to me and I really appreciate this forum and all your replies/support/encouragement.poppy123456 said:They are reviewing your claim to make sure it’s correct. Hello everyone!
Here’s a little update on the call. The lady I spoke to was ever so understanding of my anxiety regarding the call and the call itself lasted just over an hour. She basically went over the PIP questions and wanted to ensure that things hadn’t changed re: my circumstances/health. Thankfully she was more than satisfied with my answers - and acknowledged that I was now worse, health wise, than I was when I first applied for PIP. Less than a week later I received the letter saying that everything will remain as it is - until my renewal. The relief is immense - now I know what it will be like to have my first PIP renewal and for now I will not think about it and continue to make the most of every memory making moment. My illness has taught me to appreciate every day and make the most of them - each day is a blessing.
