Moving from private rent to council

hi I am currently renting a three bedroomed house from a private landlord and need to move to social housing in the past 5 years my rent has increased by over 60% I was originally paying 650 pcm I am now paying £1000pcm I am using up and pip to pay my rent, I have tried registering with Wolverhampton Council for social housing but have been told I do not qualify, I had lived all my life in Wolverhampton and worked there too, however 5 years ago my privately rented bungalow was repossessed and I moved in with my son, when my son moved out I took over the tenancy both my sister and daughter who help care fore both live in Wolverhampton but apparently I have no local connections, Walsall have offered me two bungalows with shared gardens but 6 miles away from my daughter who does not drive I need to be closer to my family now that I’m Ill is there anything I can do to get on Wolverhamptons housing list???

Wolverhampton allocation policy:
It seems like 7.4 (2) could potentially apply in your case?

hi Kimmy the council are saying I have no local connection, both my daughter and sister have lived in Wolverhampton all their lives, my sister still lives on the housing estate I was born and raised on, I worked as a support worker then manager for adults with challenging behaviour until I was told I was too ill to work all in Wolverhampton

Have you given proof that they still live there?

hi what will I need as evidence they live in Wolverhampton they both pay council tax to the city they’re both registered to vote

Council tax bills should be good evidence to prove that they've lived there.
I'll look up to see what else I can find @adrian_cassell!
