Two children with autism

I have two children with autism and one needs more help coping with it but doesn't seem to be getting it wherever we go can you help. Thanks

In order to help I would need to know what you mean by needs more help coping. Is it social needs, educational needs or what?0 -
I have 2 with ASD one 18 and my son 15 they also have selective mutism & social anxiety my daughter goes to college she only has two friends and one of those have moved to another town she never goes out and she stays in her room she gets depressed i really could do with some help at home for my daughter like a support worker or something but don't know who to ask.my son stopped speaking in 2014 and to this day i don't know why he stopped going out he won't go to school he stopped eating and washing his hair was all mated he would sleep all day and be awake all night.He was sectioned on 2015 and was in hospital for nine months he was diagnosed with ASD & selective mutism and was discharged June 2016.He started to go to a medical education school with only a few students but now he has stopped going again he still won't leave the house or his room and still won't speak or look at anyone he's awake all night and sleeps most of the day I'm at my wits end and really worried he doesn't seem to be depressed he's just got no motivation to do anything I'm worried he's going to make his self really ill i need help0

That's sounds really stressful for all of you. Because these aren't your usual ASD issues it might be worth you speaking to the Scope helpline as they can then talk to you about it properly rather than me trying to find you links online to sites that might not actually be relevant.

Do you or your children have a keyworker of any kind? Is your son under the care of CAMHS?

Hi my daughter has no one but my son is under camhs because he won't leave the house they don't seem him that often they came to see him Monday and before that it was January Tina0

Hi , Sorry just got your messages, my sons are 17 - 18 in April and 15, its the 15 year old that can;t seem to cope with his autism, he hates himself for being the way he is, We have nagged and nagged CAMHS but as you know they are so busy its just waiting, he is so depressed and depression runs in our family. He has been to see a pediatrician and he said he thinks his headaches and aches and pains are more due to mental illness but still no word from Camhs, It would be nice to see other children with autism that like computers and buses and history just to take them out together and then they can make friends and socialise. Thanks .

Thanks so much for that he would sooner watch a video than read, he has lots of leaflets and info on Asperger but he doesn't want to read them. Thanks a lot x

Have you tried looking for local ASD groups? I'm not sure whereabouts you are but here (in Shropshire) we have Autism West Midlands and also Empathy for Special Children, both of whom run groups and workshops for different age ranges. The Scope helpline might be able to find something similar near to you, or try contacting NAS and asking for groups in your area. I think you're right in that it would be good for your son to meet similar children and realise he's not alone

Thanks VioletFenn, yes I know there is one in Wigan near me so I will contact them and see if there is anything for us , Robert is a bit reluctant to do anything though and that is the hard bit. He doesn't want to try new things , His routine as we all know is important to them. I think if I ask him to just try and if he doesn't like it then fine but if he does then great . Thanks again for all your help.

My two children with Autisum are 17 and 15 but i have two others who are home educated because of anxiety and they are 14 and 11 I just want some help where we can go and enjoy things that don't cost too much or that will help the older ones into further education or work. Thanks x
