Thank you. I have just (waited nearly 3/4 hour) spoken to a really helpful lady at the PIP Consultation Centre. Very helpful. I've got to do the MRN which I've done with her. Requested a copy of the assessment. Disagreed with the majority of the decision. Not once was my PTSD mentioned!! Apparently because I don't have overwhelming psychological distress or anxiety when going to appointments, show vulnerability or physical aggression, everything I've said is dismissed. Doesn't mean that I don't have these at home. Honestly, they really are still in the Stone Age with regards to any form of disability. I'm sure the Government and the DWP think we make it up just to get out of work!!0

Glad you managed to get through to someone! We always suggest doing MRs in writing, as the people in the call centre can often misinterpret things over the phone, but not to worry. I also struggle with PTSD and know what a nightmare it is going through the PIP process, but there is hope! MRs tend not to go in the applicants favour, but tribunals have a 70% success rate currently, so that's where the action happens.
Also please remember that if you can't do something safely, repeatedly or in a reasonable time for 51% of the time, then you're classed as not being able to do that thing in the eyes of the PIP assessors.0 -
I think that they record phone conversations now. I'm well aware that doing this re-assessment is a complete waste of time. They'll just go off the previous paperwork. They've already made their decision and that's it.
I've already set up an account and written a lot down, so that when the already decided decision comes, I can upload another letter from my Psychologist and start the tribunal process.

This is tantamount to a disability hate crime. The DWP, Capita, the unqualified "disability" advisors are all complicit. This needs to stop and these "experts" need to be re-educated with regards to disabilities irrespective of whether they are physical or mental. Either way it's Draconian.0

I do agree the system for claiming definitely needs to be changed. It's not easy on anyone trying to claim, as they expect forms to be filled in in a very specific way, but don't actually tell you how. Luckily tribunals are a much easier experience than the original assessments, so if it does go that far, please don't let it worry you too much. Will you let us know how you get on please?0

I will do. It's up to 8 weeks for the MRN decision. Nothing will change with regards to the decision. I'm looking forward to the decision being turned down and the tribunal being(everything crossed) on my side. If not, I give up.

Not all calls are recorded. I also agree with Albus that it's always better to put the request in writing and ringing to request it is not something that we usually advise. How do you know the person you were speaking was typing what you asked them to. They are call centre staff at the end of the day and not advisors.0

Fair point. I'll find out soon enough. Wary of sending stuff by post atm, Royal Mail deliveries are abysmal. Plus there isn't anything stopping the PIP people to say that they haven't received anything. I don't expect the outcome to be in my favour. Well aware that there is some major discrimination going on.

Hi Albus, trust you are well.
First decision denied, second decision denied on the 20th June. Sent in my appeal today (25th June). Has anyone a ballpark idea as to how long all of this takes. The DWP have until the end of July to reply. I'm worried that the DWP are going to win. It's us against them.

Anything up to 10 months for a hearing. Make sure you either appear in person or request a telephone/video hearing as either of those will give you the best chance of a decision in your favour.

Blimey. I will be representing myself. Unfortunately my psychologist isn't allowed to attend with me. Hopefully I've got enough evidence mental health wise.
We really shouldn't have to go through this.The DWP recently awarded me Limited Work Capability, why can't PIP? Same problems, same issues. Doesn't make sense.

Limited Capability for work is a completely different benefit, with different criteria. Being entitled to one doesn’t automatically entitle you to the other. PIP isn’t about your ability to work.

I'm well aware of that. The point I was making was that my health problems are the same irrespective of what I'm claiming. My health problems are accepted when doing the LCW, but not for PIP even though they're exactly the same. Don't really know why I'm even justifying myself.

And I understand that, but my health problems are going to remain irrespective. Either way people with problems that aren't always mobility related are been penalised because of an outdated system. Maybe PIP need to get into the 21st century and realise that mental health affects physical health and vice versa. There is still way too much stigma regarding mental health and disabilities.

They used to be better. I got a lifetime award of DLA for MHP due to PTSD 20 + years ago. assessments were nothing like today where people are scared to death of the assessors. A real Dr would asses you. So IMO we are going backwards.
