Knee Replacement Recovery

Had a TKR in Feb, followed by a bad fall end of March. Am now trying to recover again. Am unable to walk unaided as my knee collapses without warning. Physio says it’s because the muscle has not rebuilt yet and I shd ‘think in months not weeks re recovery’. Have been doing many reps of the exercises with almost nothing to show for it. Am becoming very depressed about this as I have always been active but now feel I can’t do anything. Anyone got any experience of dealing with a bad fall and recovery from a knee op. Thanks

I had a knee op I needed a replacement he said but as I was only 52 I got a clean up of arthritis and a cut of something in the front! Agony couldn’t walk got infected twice staples all fell out physio was useless and too painful and now I have fibromyalgia and both knees are useless but I’m scared to get a replacement in case I end up unable to walk ! Hope ur getting better slowly is probably better than trying to do too much too soon

Hi @lavendeenne, sorry to hear your recovery isn't as quick as you've hoped, that must be frustrating. I'm afraid this isn't something that I have experience of so I can't offer any useful advice, but I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to the community. We've got some lovely members so I'm sure you'll get some support here 😊

I had a partial knee replacement - arthritis - 8 years ago - unfortunately it failed to help me due to it being carried out a few years too late - my tendons had already stretched and there was nothing that could be done to shorten them …..

I am not saying that the same will happen to you but be warned..

I am now stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of my life (I am now 60)
