It's World UFO day!

It's a very exciting day for a few of the team today, here's our very own Mulder (aka @Richard_Scope ) to tell you a bit about World UFO Day. ๐Ÿ•ด๏ธ

Unidentified Flying Objects, commonly known as UFOs and now UAP Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, have been a subject of fascination for decades. The mere idea of extraterrestrial life and visitors from outer space has captured the imagination of people worldwide. While some dismiss UFO sightings as mere illusions or hoaxes, there are numerous accounts of UFO encounters that continue to puzzle even the most sceptical individuals.

The history of UFO sightings dates back to ancient times, with various cultures documenting strange aerial phenomena in their folklore and historical records. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that UFO sightings gained widespread attention, particularly after the famous Roswell incident in 1947, where an unidentified object crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, sparking intense speculation and conspiracy theories about the government's involvement in covering up extraterrestrial contact.

Despite the prevalence of UFO sightings and reports and data, some scientific community has remained skeptical about extraterrestrial visitors. Although I think the ongoing stigma around the subject plays a big part alongside the supposed lack of concrete evidence. The prevalence of natural and human-made explanations for UFO sightings has led many scientists to believe that there may be more plausible explanations for these phenomena.

In recent years, the topic of UFOs has gained prominence again, with declassified government documents and military personnel coming forward to share their experiences with unidentified aerial phenomena. This renewed interest has sparked public curiosity and debate about the existence of extraterrestrial life and the possibility of UFOs being of alien origin.

As the debate about UFOs continues, it's clear that the fascination with the unknown and the potential for extraterrestrial life will persist for years. Whether UFOs are a product of misidentified natural phenomena, advanced military technology, or visitors from another world.

There are many fascinating cases. Here are a few of my favourites:

So, are we alone?

I find the whole topic fascinating! My husband and I were discussing what we would do if a UFO landed in front of us and he said he would assume it's a prank and wouldn't be scared. I, on the other hand, would be terrified and would be praying for someone to come out with a camera and tell me it's all a hoax ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm interested to see how others would react. Has anyone seen a UFO?

I'm a big old sci-fi nerd and find the possibility of life on other planets hugely fascinating, especially the really scientific deep dives into what they could possibly look like.

But I'm also a huge fan of things like Chupacabra (goatsucker) sightings. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm not actually into sci-fi but I am into physics and outer space and stuff which could be relevant and alien life does come into it occasionally as well. I thought it was interesting though because physicists read the things through more logical/cynical eyes rather than the emotional/hopeful eyes that lots of sci-fi enthusiasts use when digesting the info and they still don't tend to dismiss the possibility of alien life

That said, whatever the probability of alien life is, the idea that we may come into contact with it is a fraction of that probability again. There are lots of reasons but one is the size of the universe and the time it would take to travel to meet each other would likely be longer than the lifetime of an entire civilisation or maybe even the entire universe

There's a debate that if 2 objects exist that are so far apart (we are not talking the other side of the world but billions of light years) that they will never interact or ever have any impact on each other's existence, does the second object even exist to the first for all intents and purposes??

I find the topic facinating, and I do tend to believe in UFO's and aliens and theres a cover up of it to protect the public. I tend to believe that they have been visiting for thousands of years and the government knows and works with them to shield them.

I have seen a few UFO's and I've also seen the black knight satalite (Alien satalite) a few times, you can tell its the black knight as it goes in retrograde to all the other known satalites.

I've always been pretty confident in there being alien life, but always dismissed UFOs (or UAPs) out of hand until the last couple of years where I paid more attention. No clue what the explanation for it all is, but it's a fascinating topic with a surprising amount of really compelling evidence of something weird going on if you spare some time to look into it!

I've thought how technology very suddenly took huge leaps was odd. Was it due to discovering alien tech and as we unlock more secrets, it means we can reverse engineer more of their stuff, so we keep 'inventing' things?

    @Albus_Scope

I think maybe invention is just exponential progress

Like it probably took 1,000,000 years to learn to make a primitive tool, then when we had that tool it "only" took 10,000 years to make something better โ€ฆ kind of like now where it took decades to make decent computers like we have but now we have them we are basically doubling their power and efficiency every couple of years!!

Maybe that's nonsense but it's how I see it

Aye, as each invention is made, it makes it easier to create new things and refine older tech, so it snowballs, especially these days!

But I'd like to think it all started with aliens. ๐Ÿ˜†

@Albus_Scope then if you fast forward a bit people will probably be saying we were a bit clumsy because it took us a whole year to develop a Covid vaccine or whatever, when they're doing it overnight ๐Ÿ˜†

I've never seen a UFO but did see something strange a few years a go in my house.

It was a bright white light about the size of a cricket ball about 4ft in front of me in the hallway.

It hovered for about 4 seconds before hitting the wall and disappearing.

I spent a lot of time online afterwards trying to find out what it could have been, the strangest thing I found was that some people think they could be camera like probes from other dimensions or from out of space !!

It was probably a form of ball lightening though.

I've often wondered if the UFO's people see are actually from another dimension here on earth rather then other planets.

That would explain why they're not seen by satellites entering and leaving the atmosphere.

    It's all interesting though.

Another thing I've been reading about lately is that UFO's could be humans from the future who have found a way to come back through time to visit us.

That would be good if it's true, perhaps keeping an eye on us so we don't do too much damage to the world !!

@KG100 That's a fascinating idea that they could be humans from the future!

How did you feel when you saw the bright white light? I would have been frozen in fear ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I had been doing a crossword and relaxing in the living room before seeing it, then opened the living room door to go outside and it was just hovering there.

Strange thing is, I got the feeling it was as shocked as I was and stayed a few seconds before hitting the wall and spreading out and disappearing.

I was too shocked to move while it was there, so probably a bit of fear as well, not knowing what it was.

@KG100 Wow! I'd love to know what it was for certain but I guess we'll never know.

It happened 6 years a go now, and I'm not really sure if I want it to happen again or not, but if it does I'll be better prepared next time.

Lots of different ideas on different websites on what it could have been, they vary from a build up of electricity in the house or ghosts and other things in between.

I swear I saw one once one night. Beams of lights flashing down in a circular movement.

There is a good documentary on at the moment on BBC iPlayer about sightings in Wales it's a good watch.

I've seen a few shooting stars with the clear skies recently. I suppose those are IFO's though. ๐Ÿ˜„

There were quite a few sightings not far from me, though oddly always close to a restricted air base. What a coincidence! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Must admit I don't believe in aliens. I do believe there must be some form of life elsewhere in the universe as it's so vast. Though I don't think they'll resemble humans at all. More like bacteria or algae.
