When should I expect a PIP and LCWRA review?

Hello all,
I was sadly in a serious car incident in June 2022, where I was run over by a car who mounted a pavement, damaging my nerves, back, leg, knee and I’m still using elbow crutches to hobble around my home and taking 8 medications daily.
I was advised to apply for universal credit LWCRA and the PIP scheme, after 13 months of fighting and tribunal appeals, which were humiliating, degrading and depressing. I was finally awarded both LCWRA and PIP. For 2 years in August 2023.
However my condition hasn’t improved, but become worse.
Can you advise me, when should I expect a review from both PIP and LWCRA?
Should it be 2 years from the day of the car incident or from when the Courts appeals was won?
Thank you for your advice, it’s greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear what happened. It will tell you on the PIP award letter from DWP when it ends exactly and when to expect your review from so please check that.
Those that are awarded by a Tribunal used to be contacted about 14 weeks before the award is due to end. However delay to the extreme delays with review decisions they may contact you about 8 months before the award is due to end and they will send you a review form. Many people are waiting a year, longer for some, for a review decision. Your PIP will continue until a decision is made.
If you receive the review form it will be a shorter form but please don't be fooled by that, especially as you had to take it to a Tribunal. Please make sure you treat it as a new claim as give as much relevant information as possible. I'd also advise you to include the Tribunal decision letter as evidence.
LCWRA is an ongoing award and has no end date. Reviews for most people who have this are suspended so when your review will be is anyone's guess. When it's time for a review you will receive a letter on your journal (if you have access to one) telling you they are referring you. A few days later you will receive the form in the post.

Hello Poppy,
Thank you for your detailed response, thats really helpful.
I’ve just reread the PIP letter, it says it’s been awarded until Feb 2026, so I will wait for them to contact me in advance of that date.
The LCWRA court decision notice says I shouldn’t be reassessed by DWP for 24 months from the date of this letter (which would be July 25.
but you think I will hear back sooner from the Universal Credit LCWRA people before that date? And payments will continue until they’ve made a new decision?
I do have access to a DWP journal, but there’s nothing been added to this since August 2023.
Thank you again for your help, it is appreciated, I’m just not looking forward to going through the stress of what happened before and now I’m anxious about being badly treated again.
Sorry for asking stupid questions, I just don’t know how this next bit goes. Thank you0 -
You’re welcome. For the LCWRA length of time, that will be a guide only. In normal times you could be reviewed at anytime, even before those 2 years. The way it is at the moment it’s unlikely.
LCWRA is an ongoing award and payments do not just stop, they continue until a new decision says otherwise.
I have no idea when you will be reviewed, sorry. They are still suspended anyway.

Thank you again Poppy,
That information has made me feel much less worried.
I shall just be patient for when they aren’t suspended.
Do you know why they’re suspended?0
