Hello, I am writing on behalf of my partner who has for quite some time struggled being around others. He is awaiting an autism diagnosis but in the meantime feels he cannot go back to factory work which he did before and found very stressful. He is desperate for a remote job but is having no success. He previously did administration work. Just wondered if anyone knew of any companies who are hiring? He would also be keen to do customer support or transcription/data entry. The job centre have not been very supportive and advice would be appreciated!

    Hello @rose_24

Welcome to the community! I hope your partner is seen soon with his autism diagnosis and get the support needed :)

With remote work, it can be difficult. I would say to keep an eye on the job description as some positions will advertise as "remote" or "work from home" and then say, "excepted in office 4 out of the 5 days". Which in my opinion isn't work from home! There are websites like Indeed, charityjob and even looking on LinkedIn. That's where I have found the most work from home jobs advertised.

If you are based in England or Wales. I'd also encourage your partner to look at Scope's Employment Services to see if we can help support in any way :)

Thanks so much :) with scope employment services, does someone need to have a diagnosis? My partner has had support with his CV but would be really keen to speak to an employment support agency who liaise with employers and help find him a job :)

No he doesn't need to have a diagnosis. There is a little more information here; Support to Work | Disability charity Scope UK They can help with everything from mock interviews, to talking about his employer about adjustments. They'll even support for a few weeks once in a new job if he feels he needs it :)

I'm in a similar position to your partner. The jobcentres don't have the knowledge or connections for remote work (especially because they, like all other Western employment services, are acting as if covid is over).

The only remote jobs they had are call centre work, which dosen't sound viable for him.

    >transcription/data entry.
just another little warning - a lot of those jobs are being lost to AI now. i tried applying for transcription stuff and none of them are hiring anymore, even when they say otherwise.

working remotely in some kind of admin role that cannot be done via AI (or is otherwise highly specialised) would be a better long term solution. this will require retraining, but can be done.

    best of luck

Upwork and Fiverr can be good places to find freelance transcription and data entry work. It allows for flexibility and the ability to build a client base over time.

When playing online games, if you have a certain talent, your partner can, for example, broadcast on YouTube. Apart from the job seeker, no one knows his talents and abilities.
