hello, can some one help please with my uc. i,m finding it hard to understand.

about 2 years ago i was told i was fit for work after filling in the wca form so i asked them to take another look and they then changed it to lcw.

on december 2023 i sent back another work capability form that they sent me to fill in as they said they need to find out if i am able to start looking for work

after i sent form back i then had to have a face to face assessment

last week on my universal credit log in page there was a digital letter saying i have now been put in the lcwra group.

it says i wont be asked to look for work but i am confused on what else it means

do i still need to have contact such as appointments at job centre or phone calls from them?

also i am unsure of when the money changes . i received the digital letter last week and i got paid my normal uc payment yesterday which was 7 days after receiving the digital letter.

i had a look online but people says different answers. i am not sure if i do receive any extra money and if i do i am not sure if i have to wait 4 months after digital letter decision or should it be straight away . another person said if i was on lcw and i am then put on lcwra then i do not have to wait 4 months but i will receive the first payment straight away.

will they also send me a paper letter with more information on as the digital one does not say much

thankyou for any advice

Hi @daytime181 - & welcome to the community. That's correct that there's not a waiting period in your case. This sounds like a review, in which case the extra money is due from the assessment period in which a decision was made on your WCA. (If you reported a change then this would have been due from the assessment period in which you reported such a change in your health). Check your next statement to see the LCWRA element has been added. This also depends on you not living with a partner who already claims the LCWRA element, as only one LCWRA element is payable in such a case.

You will no longer have to attend appointments either in person or by phone nor provide further fit notes.

Hey @daytime181 and it's a big welcome from me too. 😊

I can see Chiareds has already given you some top advice, but I just wanted to stop in and say a quick hello.

    thankyou for the reply.

the digital letter was dated the 11th so i think i will receive a first payment 1 month later?

.i,m not sure but think i read that they pay 1 month later rather than in advance

its hard to grasp when you feel under stress , i dont know how people cope with the more complicated stuff.

so thanks to people on forums who help.

    thanks chiarieds and hello albus_scope.

UC is paid 1 month in arrears. What date do you usually receive your money?

That means your assessment periods are 12th to 11th. You should have received the extra money this month on 18th. There may not have been enough of time to include it in this months statement as the decision was made at the end of that AP. Therefore they now owe you for this month. Money owed often takes quite a few weeks to pay it and is paid separately to your usually monthly money.
