I contacted carers allowance to cancel as my expenses have dropped and I am now over the allowance for what I’m allowed to earn.

I am in receipt of universal credit so didn’t benefit from it financially anyway. When I rang universal credit they said it’s still showing I’m in receipt of CA .. I rang carers allowance and they said my claim is showing as ‘suspended’ and not cancelled so they’ve put in a referral to chase this up.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this process? As I’m due to be paid my UC and it looks like my carers allowance is still going to be deducted even though my payments have now been stopped for that.

Any advice appreciated

    This happens a lot when claiming both benefits at the same time. It’s because carers allowance do not communicate with UC.

    Put a message onto your UC under the payment section and tell them you’ve cancelled the carers allowance claim. Whether that deduction for that assessment period is correct will depend on when your last payment for Carers allowance was and the dates of your UC assessment periods.
