Is the ESA contributions based/New style? I would assume this due to you working.

I'd advise you to check entitlement to Universal Credit by using a benefits calculator. Make sure you include all you and your husband's details and include that he's in the Support Group.

    https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/

As your husband is in the Support Group he'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of his claim. You will also be entitled to claim carers element of UC for looking after him because your husband is claiming the daily living part of PIP.

Rent will be included in your UC known as housing element. There will be no non dependant deductions because your husband is claiming daily living PIP.

You will also be entitled to the work allowance because of the LCWRA element being included. This means you or your husband will be able to receive a certain amount of earnings each month before any deductions apply. As you'll be claiming for help with the rent your work allowance will be £404/month. For every £1 of earnings over that amount your UC will reduce by 55p.

If his ESA is either contributions based or New style then this will continue to be paid as normal but it will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

That amount doesn’t make sense. Is he receiving any pensions or anything?

Contributions based ESA is £138.20/week. If he’s receiving anymore than that then at least part of it is Income Related and I wouldn’t expect him to be receiving Income Related due to your earnings.

When he rings he needs to ask them what his ESA claim is made up of and they will tell him.

So says living exp for us 133.30 disability income guarantee 27.90 xtra for support group 44.70 = 205.90 including 60.95 my earnings 1st 30 not counted so 144.95 but as hes entitled to contribution based theyl pay 168.45 , he gets it 336.90 every 2 wks, on hold an hr to be told diesnt effect claim as its only for me and him
