Hi, when making a claim for pip do the dwp contact your workplace to ask questions?

    Hi @hallac,

    I've not heard anyone say that this has happened to them before. PIP are more concerned about how your conditions affect you rather than what work you do. They might contact GPs or medical professionals to gather evidence, but not workplaces.

    No, they don't contact your employer.

    No, they aren’t likely to directly contact your employer but what you are claiming points for shouldn’t be contradicted by what you do for a living….ie can’t walk far but you are a postie!

    That’s over simplistic but DWP are not daft and it may well be asked during interview or follow up questions what you do for a living.

    I believe that that would be a serious breach of confidentiality if they did. They don't know what medical details you have and haven't shared with your employer as is your right. To discuss private health issues with them would get them into a massive amount of trouble?
