Hi, my name is RosieJay! partner recently diagnosed with Benign Essential Tremor
My partner has recently been diagnosed with Benign Essential Tremor. He was seen by a clinician who did tests on him and told him that he needed to see a neurologist, He would be referred but told it could take 52 weeks to see one unless he went private. The diagnosis day was 5th June albeit that the head shaking started last October. He has not been given any medication whatsoever and getting hold of his doctor is a nightmare. In fact heard nothing at all from doctors surgery. I see the head shaking everyday which upsets me and at a loss of what to do. My partner knows it is happening I bug him (which I should not do) to ring the surgery but he is reluctant to do so. He is in denial he knows it will not go away but he seems to be willing to wait for the neurologists appointment instead of going directly to the doctor to seek help. I am at my wits end.

Hiya @RosieJay and welcome to the community.
I's sorry to hear your partner is struggling with his diagnosis. It's pretty common for this to happen, then there's almost a mourning period while you come to terms with it all. Though I understand he just wants to wait for the neurologists appointment, especially if the GP is as difficult to get hold of as many are these days. Plus the longer it takes to see the neurologist, the longer he can pretend things aren't wrong. I'm sorry you're also having a hard time, it cant be easy for you, so please be gentle with yourself.0
