MP's and home visits ?

Hi everyone ( no idea which section this should go in )

Just a quick question please

Does anyone in chat know if MP's will come out to a persons home for a face to face discussion please ? They used to, I have had a couple of visits in the past but that was probably 40 odd years ago, when they were nice lol and I actually knew who they were as they went to every single door leading up to elections.

Thank you ☺️

Hi @mrsBB MP's can make home visits to their constituents, although they usually see constituents at their local surgeries.

However in certain circumstances such as for constituents who are unable to travel due to health reasons, MP's might arrange a home visit.

You would need to contact your MP's office directly to discuss.

It doesn't hurt to ask @mrsBB. They can arrange to visit you, or they may arrange for a staffer to visit you as well. Though obviously the MP visiting is preferable. You should mention if you are unable to visit the local constituency surgeries.

@Bluebell21 thank you very much for the reply, much appreciated. I am housebound so I was hoping they would come to my home. I will give them a ring and see if it’s possible, never know, she may say of course 😂

Take care and thanks again 😊

@Jimm_Scope thank you 👍 I will certainly explain that I am housebound and can’t get to their surgeries. We will see if they will, I don’t mind if it’s someone other than the MP, just hope if they do come they come prepared for the visit to be a long one 😂😂 I have much to discuss lol.

    Thanks again Jimm ☺️

Back in the 1980s/1990s when my late Father was a GP I remember he used to do home visits after his surgery for those who struggled to get out. That all stopped in the 21st century. I suspect it is the same for MPs, although my current GP is happy to do consultations over the phone. Maybe MPs also do phone consultations or zoom calls? - might be worth asking that also.

@AKR Yep, I fondly remember the days when your doctor would do a friendly home visit, day or night. Only recently I was talking to my GP about how things had changed so much, I was joking with him how I remember his young self sitting at his desk with a cigarette on the go and an over flowing ashtray, he did stop smoking around the same time I did, but yeah he could never lecture me about it haha😁 I have had the same GP since he was just out of training and I was pregnant with my eldest, that GP was 70 two weeks ago 😮wow time has flown. I will mention a telephone call when I ring the MP's secretary, that might be the best option, thank you for the suggestion 😊

I am a little unwell at the mo with the dreaded cellulitis, I have ongoing issues with horrid lymphedema in both lower legs and severe psoriasis just to top it off lol. As soon as I feel ok again I will definatly be enquiring xxx

I am sorry you are unwell at the moment. I hope you manage to sort a visit from your MP once you are a bit better. @mrsBB
