Happy birthday to the quokka!

As things seem a bit gloomy recently, I thought I'd highlight a very special birthday weekend for a very special little critter.
Yes folks, it's the quokka's birthday! Dubbed "The happiest animal in the world" this little bundle of love is only found in a small area of Southern Australia called "Rottnest Island" not the nicest name for such a lovely marsupial. Each year the local residents put on a weekend to celebrate their islands special creature, with games, songs and education being the key pulls of the events.
Have you ever seen an animal happier than this lil friend? If so, please let me know, I'd love to see it!

Quokkas are related to kangaroos and wallabies and can also climb trees.

That's correct @Bluebell21 they're marsupials, like roos and wallabies. Their babies are also called joeys. 😊

What an interesting birthday weekend for quokka fans. Let the games begin! Songs and education please!

I can do the education bit, but I'm pretty sure you don't want me singing @WhatThe 😉

Good question there @Biblioklept and one I actually know the answer to!
They chose this weekend as it's when many Joeys are starting to venture out of their mothers pouches, so it's a celebration of life in Spring. 😁It made sense to do a joint birthday over two days, as it saved everyone so much money in presents and quokka are very busy creatures, so it's easier for their diaries to do one weekend.

Talking of kangaroos I've seen some videos of them, trying to fight humans. They are so muscular and fierce, I used to think they were cute but I would be a bit wary of them now.

Oh I would not mess with a 'roo @Sandy_123 a full grown male can totally decimate a human, even if they're play fighting. I'll stick with the quokkas. 😁
