Hi @lees, welcome to the community.

Sorry to hear things are a bit stressful to work out! Just so I understand, are you asking whether you'd be entitled to a council tax reduction? Or are you hoping to understand how much housing benefit you'd be entitled to as a household?

If you're struggling to understand your benefits and wanted to talk to someone about it, you could always see if there's a benefits advisor in your area who can help you get on top of things. Advicelocal might be worth a look 😊

Yes to know housing benefit entitlement for rent and council tax, its taking them so long CAB said because we get income based on esa we should get full housing ben as all we get now is husbands esa and my 10 hrs a week, i understand pip is not counted, longer its going on the more arrears adding up

Hi @lees, I wouldn't like to say for complete certain, but think CAB are probably right here if they've looked at the details for you. You shouldn't have any deductions from your housing benefit for the people living with you as one is under 21 and the other is caring for a child under 5.

Are you living in social housing or privately renting?

@lees it's very frustrating to have to wait. Some people find contacting their MP can help if they've been waiting a long time. Would this be something you might be able to do?

Find your MP - MPs and Lords - UK Parliament
