Tax credit overpayment
We used managed migration and moved from tc to uc in May. We no longer receive uc. But in May we was paid a one off amount of £700 and a day later on our usual payment date we received £800. On our final letter dated May we were told we may owe £600 as an overpayment but we would get a letter confirming this.. however we are now over 4 months later and I've not had a letter about this. As we are not on uc I would like to pay off the amount in full and not have it go through my wages/income.
How long after them saying we might have overpaid you to having the official letter do you get the confirmation?

Your question is confusing because you mention Tax credit overpayment and also UC. If the overpayment is for UC, which I suspect it is then you'll need to contact DWP debt management to pay it off.

Sorry. It will be a tax credit overpayment. We moved onto uc just after our pay date. We had the final tax credit award saying it is possible we have an over payment of 600 but it will write to us and confirm. We have not had this letter and was only on uc for 3 months, and nothing was deducted from our uc.
How long do tax credits take to issue a letter for an overpayment? It has been over 4 months and we have not heard. I am now in full time employment and we are no longer entitled to any benefits.

You will need to contact HMRC Tax credits and ask them. You can arrange to pay back any overpayment with them.

Do they deduct it from UC and what if you can’t afford the repayment?

Yes the debt will be passed onto DWP and they will reduce your UC payments until it's repaid back.
