Hi, I have been awarded carers allowance and it starts on the 30th of September, can someone give me advice on how my wife's income related esa will be effected and how much she will end up with after they stop her SDP and will we be worse off.

Hi @jon6273. Sorry no-one has been able to answer your question. Here's some information about ESA and Carer's Allowance. Carer's Allowance will count as income.
To find out how much you'll have each month, here's a benefits calculator.
Hope that helps 😊

Hi,
Can I ask if you live together? And if so, how your wife was eligible for SDP?
Assuming it was a single person claim, the SDP would have been £81.50 a week, which will all be stopped now.
Carers Allowance is £81.90 a week. But if you are in receipt of any means tested benefits yourself, that could affect your own benefits.
With the info available so far, your combined income should increase by 40p per week. Don't spend it all at once!

Thank you for your help Rachel_scope for your help and those benefit calculators are ok but they ask to much personal information. I'll just wait and see what my wife ends up with after her SDP is stopped. And thank you overlyAnxious I'll try not to spend the extra 40p in a hurry 🤣
