Being mentally ill and under pressure is very very dangerous can be dangerous for the individual or dangerous for those around the person I'm going to start getting all my medical hospital doctors from years back and show them this isn't over night goes back since I was 13 I'm 53 won't make no difference with them can only try and be prepared

Ah fantastic what did you think sounds positive I do like Stephen timms

Stephen needs a lot of support and I hope he gets it. It's hard enough for us dealing with everyday challenges. I've just found out that my GP withheld info that I could possibly have surgery. Many of us trying to balance physical and mental health issues can't cope with the added anxiety. That's why I try not to read anything at the moment but welcome the links sent that are accurate 😊

    Hard to gauge.

It was reported that the last government were coming for PIP and I'd assume those in the legacy DLA to move away from cash to a voucher scheme, a catalogue type scheme or one off payments for items required to help with disability. Sounded ludicrous to me.

Change of government and not a thing heard about this proposal since.

I've grabbed the bull by the born and asked my MP to investigate in my behalf, hopefully get to the root of what's going on.

Thank you Night city for your kind words and you're great too. I think I'm going to take Steve's stance and contact my MP. I'll share the added costs of disability and try and get some idea of what they are proposing.

Not so sure he will be much use but I am willing to try.

We are all great and need to be strong but it would be great if we had someone in Labour who had support in our corner.

They all seemed OK pre election but Reeves and Kendal are proving the devil incarnate. Poor pensioners battling with the loop holes.

Let's try to be positive and be as proactive as we can.

    Big love to you all.

The post i put up earlier is very real. You cant go outside in the area you live in because you dont like the way you look. Go to a holiday spot 30 so miles away and you become free as the wind. Their secret they think. I wish i never knew of this persons problems, gut werenching to me but "hey," give them a mobility car to get ther. This is why i ask is MH overtaking physical problems on th PIP scale of things?

I'm really confused. Not sure this is helpful or relevant too. Is everyone OK?

I appreciate this view the problem with it is the constant battering of us in the media is leading to a hardening of public views akin to the hardening of views of asylum seekers/illegal immigrants which lead to the the riots faced earlier this year. The written and spoken words from the media have real-life consequences for us regardless of what Reeves does or doesn't say in the budget as people hear and read this vitriol against our community and react to it.

How many of us have faced discrimination either overt or covert? How many of us have seen this getting worse, it may be little things like people refusing to open doors for us or refusing to move out of the wheelchair bay on public transport to the more severe physical or mental attacks - being called out at fakers and scroungers (this happened to me back in 2010 when the conservative/lib dem coalition started austerity and blamed disable people for the benefits bill).

People will remember what is stated in the media so much more than what is stated in the budget.

STEPHEN TIMMS IS NOT ON OUR SIDE. Never has been, never will be.

The evidence shows he is not on our side. His words are empty. To say otherwise is FAKE NEWS!

I've just had to start using a walker due to balance and falls. I've had alot of weird looks being 63 but as long as I feel safe I really don't care although I was tearful at first. Not sure about negative stuff about Timms. Positive thought will help no matter how hard it seems.

Hi @Jean Eveleigh Unfortunately this is what the media do best. Pick on a group of people and portray them in the worst possible light. And people who do not know what it is like to be disabled and claiming benefits believe them. Especially if they are hit with something in the budget they were not expecting. Everyone seems to need someone to blame. We live in a very judgemental society.

Too right! It's a real worry my husband and I are both Disabled and claim benefits and are so fed up with the negative way we are portrayed and the constant struggles we have like every one else. Both of us have degenerative diseases which will only get worse. Why is everyone so judgemental?

liz, positive thought doesn't change facts. Pessimists are realists.
