I'm a pensioner and I live in a two bed house renting from a housing association my daughter has always lived with me and as she's working alway has paid most of the rent but I get a little housing benefit she is going to move out with her partner they are buying a house together will I be entitled to more housing benefit when she does.

    The best way to see how much you'll be entitled to when your daughter moves out is to use a benefits calculator. You need to report the change to the council so they're aware. As Housing Benefit is being replaced by Universal Credit (UC), you may have to make a new claim to UC. Here's some information about this. This isn't something to worry about, it's just an ongoing process to move everyone to UC 😊

    Are you claiming for help with the rent through housing benefit? If so then when your daughter moves out you will need to report the changes to your local Authority. Your housing benefit will then be recalculated. As you are state pension age or above then you will not be affected by the bedroom tax.
