Vouchers in place of PIP.

I understand that PIP recipients might hear of an update on vouchersin place of cash payments on the 7th October. It willnot surprise me if the government will change to vouchers in place ofcash, given the way in which so many elderly people will not receivethe £300 winter fuel payment. I am heavily reliant on the £148.40weekly amount of PIP I receive and believe I might not survivewithout it as I suffer from a number of serious health conditionswhich render me housebound and a wheelchair user. To resort toapplying for vouchers for my considerable needs would only serve toexacerbate my serious mental health condition, not to mention theenormous burden it would place upon my fragile physical state. Vouchers and the huge burden of applying for them and having toprovide receipts would, I am sure, put and end to me and many others.

Thank you so very much for your fast reply. This has helped me more than I can say. My depression has worsened these past months through sleepless nights. Once again, thank you most sincerely.

Hey @brian1971, this was something the previous party in government proposed when they were in government. I don't think we have heard anything from the new government about this. Please try to not worry too much, speculation often does just cause more worry.

I just want to thank you as well, my anxiety has been through the roof! Just a question, when you say years, what are we talking 2, 3 or more?

I don't think vouchers will work, as disabilities are very complex and people have different needs. It's also very stigmatising to be forced to pay with vouchers, when everyone else uses actual money.

They were also a Tory proposal and we have a Labour government now. The response to the green paper was very negative.

We'll have to wait untill the 30th to get more info.
