What happens to my PIP and UC when I move?

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me and put my mind at rest.
I currently receive PIP and UC and live at home with my parents but I am moving in with my boyfriend soon in another county.
I know I need to let both know about my change of address but will I need to fill in new forms?

Hey KimmiP.. For PIP it’s a phone call to them, you can make the necessary changes with them. For UC… you need to log into your account and go to ‘where you live and what it costs’ put in the relevant information as it asks you. You will also need to add your partner. Click on living with a partner and it will take you through each step. If he doesn’t have a UC claim, then he will need to make a claim. The claim will then be worked out on joint income. PIP is NOT a means tested benefit and therefore it will not have any impact on your UC claim.
I hope this all makes sense???…It’s an extremely exciting time moving in with your partner and new home.. Good luck with everything..😁0 -
Thank you so much, that's so helpful! I'm very excited and a little nervous 😄

You mention that you're moving to another country, which country is that please?

Hey.. apologies.. I did not pick up on the ‘move to another country’ if you are moving to another country, it will have an effect on your benefits. You can either call or send a journal message regarding your UC claim. They will then be able to assist you with what happens. PIP - when you call them with your change of address, they will then advise if you still have an entitlement. Good luck with it all.. 😊

It depends what country. If they are moving from N.Ireland to England, Wales or Scotland then their benefits will continue. Same if moving to N.Ireland. If moving to Scotland their PIP will change to Adult Disability Payment. (ADP)
I wouldn't advise contacting Universal Credit helpline or putting a message on your journal for such advice because they are not benefits advisors. I've known the helpline give some terrible advice many times. Same applies to PIP because this and the UC helpline are call centre staff with very little benefits knowledge other than sit reading from a screen.

Ugh! Thanks. I hate it when this happens and I read it twice before commenting 😑
This means that advice from vics in the first comment is correct. Apologies for misreading.
