Hey @ESABenefitsUK123, we have a section in our guides about notification settings here: Desktop PC: a guide to using the online community - Scope | Online Community
I will say there is some terminology difference in the notification settings. 'Discussions' are a type of post. So the notification setting for discussions falls under 'notify me of new posts'.
If you follow or bookmark an entire category you can also be sent notifications when a new discussion appears in it.
Please let us know if any of this info helps, hopefully we can help stop with that notification spam.

unfortunately that link doesn't work. i get page not found when i click on it.
when i look at my notification settings, i cannot see anything that says along the lines of
notify me of new posts.
(i can only see notifications relevant to ones that i have participated in.)

thanks. i unchecked these two:
New comments on my activity feed posts
New posts on my profile's activity feed
(they had the alarm icon set to tick, and the inbox icon set to blank, which i thought would prevent me from receiving emails, which is what i want.)

The page was updated between the 13th and the 16th, apologies about that.
Did unticking those two options help?

i'm afraid it didn't help. i still keep getting new post alerts sent to my email address inbox. these posts are not ones that i am participating in. inside the scope forum notification options, new post notifications is definitely not checked. i think it could be a bug perhaps?

I'm getting the same despite not having anything ticked in my notifications. It's getting very annoying!! @Jimm_Scope

Hi @vikingqueen would you be able to take a screenshot of your Notification preferences screen and then send it in a message to @Community_Scope? As if they're all unticked you shouldn't be receiving anything so we'd just like to take a look to see if we can see an issue.

I can assure you I do not have notifications turned on. There is no need to screenshot it @Jimm_Scope I got 8 email notifications on Thursday, none today...as yet

Hey @ESABenefitsUK123, at the bottom there under "Posts", if you untick the right-hand boxes, under the little box symbol, you should stop receiving the emails. Those boxes indicate "Email me when this occurs".

If you are able to see the picture another member posted above if any of the boxes on the right, under the box symbol, are ticked you will receive emails when those events happen.
The bell symbol will just give you a community notification, a little popup when you are on the community site and it will be store in your notifications.
If you want to read a bit more about notifications and notifications settings on community please check out our guides on it, we have one for mobile and tablet users and one for desktop computer users.
If you are still struggling please do ask!

those options are for posts that i am participating in. i want those.
the problem is that i am being notified by posts that are new and that i have not participated in. i am getting about 10 a day now. these email alerts are to do with new posts that i am not participating in.

Hi @ESABenefitsUK123 and @Biblioklept. I'm going to pass on your issues to the Community Lead who knows more about the technical side of things! Hopefully we can get it sorted quickly for you.

Out of the blue I've also started getting random notification emails.

@Kimmy87 do you know when this started and can you possibly tell us which posts or discussions particularly you are receiving notifications for? If it is easier you could forward the emails to us on community@scope.org.uk

Thank you @ESABenefitsUK123. I'm trying to determine whether people are receiving them all from the same category as we are having difficulty replicating the issue.
Have you had any others recently?

That's really helpful, thanks @ESABenefitsUK123.
If possible, could you go to this categories page on the community, scroll down to the one called 'Everyday life' and tell me if the bell icon is filled in purple?
If it is, unselect it and you shouldn't receive the emails any more.
