Receiving state pension in 2025

Hi

This could be a long post please bear with me.

Currently both myself and my partner are claiming ESA Contributions Based and we are also both in the support group.

We also receive the UC housing element.

I reach 66 in February 2025 and I have just received a letter informing me of my entitlement to State Pension so every 4 weeks I will receive £884.

My husband is 10 years younger than me so is nowhere near retirement age.

So do I need to inform UC about my change of benefit to State Pension.

Also will the change to State Pension affect the amount of UC that is paid to our landlord or heaven forbid will it stop completely.

I look forward to your advice.

Regards

Yes, you will need to report the changes to UC once you reach state pension age. Your state pension will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement in the same way your ESA is but the amount deducted will be more.

With full state pension amount of £221.20/week the deduction for your UC will be £958.53/month.

Whether there's any entitlement to UC will depend on your circumstances.

Your partners New style ESA will continue as normal.
