PIP Assessment

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing as well as possible. Just wanted to say that I just had my PIP assessment (phone call) which I was dreading as I've heard so many horror stories. How wrong was I? The lady was lovely. She went through the questions on my form and asked for a bit more detail here and there. At the end, she advised that I should get an occupational therapist to come and do a home assessment to help manage my mobility issues with gadgets and other kinds of support.
The assessment was about an hour ago and I've already received a text from DWP saying they have the report. Fingers crossed for the outcome. I'm hopeful but will keep you updated when I have more news.

How nice to hear about a positive experience @HappyDays62 ๐ I think people are more likely to share a bad experience than a good one which is maybe why there are so many horror stories out there.
Definitely keep us updated!

Hi Rachel, this is just an update, as promised. I received a text from DWP this morning letting me know that I have been awarded PIP! I'm delighted. I don't know exactly how much yet, as I have to wait for the letter. So overall my experience has been very positive. That said, I did LOTS of research before making the claim.

I did lots of research on how to answer the questions before making the claim. The main thing is to talk about how your (or your child's disability) impacts on everyday living, specifically relating to the descriptors (questions) they use. I waited 5 months but after the assessment, it took less than a week to get the award. I was very clear about what I can and can't do. I know it's different in Scotland as my grandson has complex learning needs and cognitive delay but my daughter was awarded quite quickly. I hope you don't have to wait too much longer but payment will be backdated if you get the award. xx
