Update on my pip review

Just a quick message to all rang dwp as people advised me to do yippee spoke to a very lovely lady who did my MR over the phone and even she was shocked at the coments the assessor and the decision maker wrote as she got my file up infront of herself especially about me driving for work no mention of help I need after work with fatigue and pain no mention of help navigating hospital appointments doctors appointment where my wife is always with me because of this brain fog from my long covid and new diagnosis of fybromyalga so she is sending it all over to different assessor fingers toes and everything else crossed and once again a great big thanks for all the support from you all

Ah that's great news @TAFF123 I'll be keeping everything crossed for you! Please do let us know how you get on. π

You are correct. It's never a good idea to request the MR over the phone. I always advise to put it in writing, for the exact reasons you've stated here.

Thanks for that it's just when I rang for a cope of the assessment report the lady said she could do it there and then so me and wife said OK and she didn't rush me for an answer as my wife asked her if it was OK for her to help me fully understand the questions and why I didn't agree the she read my answer back and asked if that was correct and if I wanted to add anything else so all I can do now is fingers crossed

Hi @TAFF123
keep us updated (i've been lurking & couldnt help but comment), i've just gone through a similar thing & done my MR by phone too. It took me 2 days to write everything out due to brain fog so when they read it back i could correct them but the frontline staff were very helpful.
The initial written assessment was not as accurate as the recording so i was 2 points short of an award π
Hopefully it works out for you!

Ideally you really should put that request in writing too because we don't usually advise to ring to request it. I wouldn't personally trust any of the call centre people to save what they read out to you. They could actually type anything.

Hi @poppy123456 thanks for the advice it is most welcome, i know you give good advice. I am fully expecting it not to change & to go to tribunal as I've been reading the rest of the site & seen the stats. (fortunately i'm a pretty positive person)
I was just curious to keep track of Taffs post to see if his result was the same as mine.

Hi all thanks for the advice I've done as you said when I received my letter to say they are passing my MR to another assessment it said to send any other written information so on my initial letter of refusal I've written it all down on a separate piece of paper which I photocopied all and sent them all in so I now have their report and my paperwork I'm not holding my breath because I just don't have the strength nor the get up and go anymore especially with my long covid getting worse not better so I'm just keeping everything crossed because if they say no this time I'll just take that as that

Hi all hope you are all keeping as well as you can. Just a quick message to let you know after MR the decision is the same but with even less points. I don't know how you get less points with more medical reports than before. If anybody has any good news please let me know ta

Sorry to hear that @TAFF123 it does happen unfortunately, but the good news is you can now apply for the tribunal, which is where most decisions are overturned in the applicants favour. I think it's currently at a 72% success rate?

Cheers albus how do I take it to a tribunal my head is shed and do I need to get any help from any professionals to help get my condition across

No worries @TAFF123 all the info is on that help page I linked, but it's fairly simple to get started.
If you get any outside help is totally up to you, some often just do it themselves, but a little extra help can be good. There's a link to Citizens Advice who can often point you in the right direction to someone local who could support you.
I did both tribunals by myself, with moral support from my mum. It's less about what conditions you have and more about how your conditions affect you daily. But the tribunal will talk things through with you, it's worlds apart from the initial assessment, the tribunal were all warm and caring and know the right questions to ask.

Did you have an award before the MR decision? If you didn't then I wouldn't worry too much about points being removed because when you request the Tribunal you're actually starting with zero points anyway because they will look at the whole claim.
Going forward you can request the Tribunal here.
Please note that the success rate that Albus mentions applies to those that have either a telephone/video or face to face hearing. Paper based hearings have a much less success rate and for this reason I wouldn't advise you to choose that option.
For expert advice going forward this link will help with that. I'd advise either Welfare Rights or a law centre, if you have either of those near you.

Hi poppy the long and short of it all is that in 2023 I was getting Β£26 a week that was because n 2022 I had a heart attack and later on diagnosed with long covid earlier this year I was told by doctor I had fibromyalga so I information dwp of my change of circumstances then I had to drop my hours at work because I was sent to hospital respiratory dept and diagnosed with copd so I don't understand why dwp say I do not qualify with all the life changes I've had to do over the last few years
