Hi All, i just had a message from universal credit asking for four months bank statements and my passport details as part of a review - I sell some things online and I’m worried they’ll say this is income! It also feels like such an invasion of privacy! I saw another report that this request is followed by a call dissecting all your incoming and outgoing transactions and also asking very personal questions! Does anyone have experience (and reassurance) or advice on this please?

    When you say you sell online, is it personal items, things you make or things you buy then sell on?

    I had one of these checks last year.

    I had transactions showing as payments in from eBay (selling personal items).

    I wasn't asked any questions about those.

    I was asked about varying payments out, but would not describe it as "dissecting all".

    I absolutely found it intrusive and an invasion of privacy, unfortunately they are acting within the rules.

    Selling personal things doesn't count as working, and unless it's put your capital over £6000 they probably won't be interested.

    this is what I am worried sick about as I thought you could sell own stuff ( within reason) I’ve not eaten for days or slept ! Feel sick by it all

    Selling your own personal items is not treated as income. It's treated as capital and if you have less than £6,000 it's disregarded anyway.

    thank you! I have done nothing wrong then thankfully but I feel sick and I cannot eat or sleep. I hate being like this . I miss when I was well and could work
