Requests to see bank statements …

Hiya,

Just some advice needed really, have had a message saying my UC claim is being reviewed and that they need to see 4 months worth of bank statements, and photo id. This is fine I have nothing to hide but when I clicked on the instructions for the bank statements it’s telling me they need to see outgoings as well as incomings. Can anyone explain this please? Why do they need to see my outgoings? Surely they are only concerned about money coming in and extra income should you have any, which I don’t. This seems very invasive and unnecessary.

Cheers for any advice.

    This is correct.

Known as a Compliance Check, many of us on here have been through one, had to submit id, statements and answer questions about outgoings.

Mine were bizarre and didn't really make sense as far as I could tell, I also found it very intrusive but unfortunately part of claiming the benefit.

Sorry to jump in on this but I’ve just had the same request.

Do I just send bank statements for the account where UC is paid into or also for the account where PIP is paid into?

You have to submit statements for any and all bank accounts.

it’s just that I read somewhere on here that it’s just the account(s) connected with the UC payment?

No, it is any and all accounts, they need to know about the total capital you hold to make sure the payments are correct.

You'll also be asked about PayPal, premium bonds etc as part of the process.

They need to know about everything.
