Advice - PIP Evidence

I posted a change of circs earlier this year but got declined based on not being medicated for one of my diagnosed conditions. My OT report and doctors report stated I had the condition though and I am now receiving medication in addition to intensive counselling.

Nothing has changed in relation to my daily needs since my OT report other than I am now on the medication that the assessor said was missing, so couldn't consider what I was saying in my assessment.

Is it okay to resubmit the original OT reports in addition to the medication lists and counselling report, or do I need to pay for another OT report?

    Hi,

There isn't any specific requirement to provide OT reports or to be medicated for PIP. Sadly this is a 'cut & paste' excuse that is often used by PIP assessors on their reports.

All that matters is the way you are affected with regards to the tasks in the descriptors.

Did you ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration last time?

I didn't do an MR as I felt there wasn't much point due to not being medicated, although based on how it affects me I probably should have done. I did get awarded basic mobility though but feel it should have been enhanced, but, again, I didn't feel it was worth appealing due to the medication issue.

Ok, you're definitely not alone in just leaving it at that stage. Doing the MR would have been the best option back then but no point dwelling on that now.

Unfortunately, just being medicated this time is unlikely to help you achieve the higher award. It will still be considered on functional ability against the descriptors. The whole award will be considered if you put in a change of circumstances and there is a chance of it being reduced, as well as being increased or staying the same.

PIP say not to resend old evidence at all, though personally I would include another copy of the old OT report just to make sure they've got it in front of them. I definitely wouldn't pay for a new one though.
