Hi, my name is rabt! Activity ideas for a man with autism?

Hi there I’ve just started supporting an autistic, non verbal and deaf man in his late 30’s. He is in a wheelchair. Can anyone suggest any indoor games/activities we could do or anything we could buy to occupy him when he’s indoors. He loves the outdoors but Winter will soon be upon us properly and I know there will be days we can’t go far so it’s to try and think of things he’d enough. I’ll try some cookery and he’ll draw but doesn’t usually engage with that for too long. Any ideas gratefully received.

    Hello @rabt, welcome to the community 😊 Are drawing and cooking what he has enjoyed doing in the past?

    I personally love board games for those winter nights in with people, but that isn't to everyone persons taste I know!

    Thank you. I don’t think he’d understand how to do board games. I thought maybe something like Snap but I’m not sure if I could make him understand but I’ll try.

    He will draw but he really just does it for a few seconds. He likes throwing the ball back over his head so I have to go and retrieve it. Then he catches it and laughs 😂. This he would cook but in respite care at the moment until he is able to get a house of his own. I’ll check what they have in the way of utensils.

    I suppose you could look at some different games you could play with a ball @rabt? I don't know if Boccia would be a possible idea, or even just some other simple ball games.
