Hi

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge as to the process for accessing this grant if you are self employed

there seems to be plenty of information relating to employed and employers and how to access if you have ADHD but not much if you have a physical disability and are self employed

I am wondering what types of equipment people have accessed and how the grant scheme works for self employed

Thank you

What type of equipment or support are you seeking through the grant?

possibly a standing desk and perch stool and some cutting equipment as I can’t use scissors and anything to assist with grip as I have hand problems and can’t grip. I’m interested what equipment other people have received as I may not of thought of it. Thank you

Hi @ah123, I'm sorry nobody has responded to your post in some time. I have ADHD, but am not self-employed, I can still share my own experience with Access to Work though.

I didn't receive any equipment really but what I did get was a course of work coaching. Helping to figure ways that I worked and mechanisms/methods of working that played to my strengths. I was offered equipment, audio recorder for note taking is the one that sticks in my mind. I thought about it for a while but decided to just take the work coaching.

Have you managed to go through Access to Work yet? And if so how has it gone?

Bit late but in case helpful just joined forum and saw. I am self employed and I get access to work for travel but the more I try to do realise need for other stuff but now have to do new application apparantly for those things and it feels like big thing so haven't yet - so my advice is think ahead and put in one application if you can. Not sure what you need to know. Don't know the difference as have not been employed. Always self-employed. There is a box you tick for that.

hi I first received access when I was self-employed. They provided me with a chair which they measured me for, dragon voice recognition software, assessed my desk, mind view and some other report writing software. Also, I had a support worker for three months to help me with my. He came to my home once a week for three months, and helped me with my neuro divergent stuff as well as training me on the packages. Nowadays I have two part-time 0 hour contract jobs and One is employed in the other self employed. I receive assistance for travel to work for both of those jobs.
