Workplace adjustments

Hi, i am struggling with walking and possibly looking at having to use a wheelchair for a large part of my day. Mostly i think this can be accommodated for me at work, but i may have issues with a few inward opening manual doors. Is my employer required to change these so that i can continue effectively in my role?

    Hi @dnfareham, welcome to the community. What companies consider reasonable can vary, but adjusting entrances can be part of reasonable adjustments in some circumstances. Scope have a page about reasonable adjustments that you might find useful here:

    Have you had an occupational health assessment at work before? They can often look at your needs and make recommendations on what would make work easier for you.

    You might also like to talk to ACAS about it to see if they can help you understand what's within your rights:

    One thing that is always good practice is to keep a note of things you're asking for in writing so it's all on record should you need it at a later date.

    Have your employers been understanding of your needs so far? Hopefully they can get things sorted for you 😊

    thanks so much for your clear and thorough response. Very much appreciated. My employer has been very accommodating with adjustments so far. I am concerned though that they may prefer to change my role within the workplace rather than make adjustments to the building to accommodate me further. I enjoy my job and am very much hoping to continue working in my current role. I will look into the links you posted. Thanks again.
