Backdated ESA

Hi all,
I recently had an award for ESA, I’m in the support group’ and had received the payment backdated from when the application to the decision was made.
My question is, will the backdated payment from ESA be taken from my next UC payment in full?
I do know that going forward the ESA payments are deducted from my UC award for the relevant month.
Any clarification on this would be gratefully appreciated as I’m worried next month,Decembers payment’ will be considerably lower.
Thanks,
Andy.

If you were claiming UC at the time the payment is from then you will have an overpayment for UC. They won’t take the whole amount from one payment. They will take a smaller amount each month until the overpayment is paid back.

Hello @zog200.
The amount varies depending on what other deductions have you on your claim but there are some details about the repayment amounts on the Government site: Find out about money taken off your Universal Credit.
