LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.
August/September: Partial AP, excluded from waiting period.
September/October: AP 1
October/November: AP2
November/December: AP 3
December/January: Eligible for LCWRA element.
20th January: First LCWRA element paid*
No money is owed in backpay.
*If you have Transitional Protection on the claim, it will reduce by the LCWRA amount.
*If you have Carers Element in your name on the claim, LCWRA will replace this as the same person cannot get both.
*If you have a partner on your claim who gets LCWRA, no money will be paid as within a couple the maximum number of LCWRA elements is 1.

Thankyou! Can I ask if the first month is always not included? As the fit note was submitted the next day? Seems a bit unfair 😬

sorry should of said that the fit note actually says from the 14th but not sent to us untill the next day

It is the date that the Fit Note is provided to UC that counts.
If the first month is not a full AP then it doesn't count for the waiting period unfortunately.

ok thanks! What a pain 🙄 the doctor was late in sending it so we couldn’t upload it untill the next day

Was the health condition reported at the start of August/ Sept assessment period? If so then that month will count because you have 7 days to provide a fit note once the health condition is reported.
If it was then first payment will be this month. Otherwise it will be next month as kimmy advised.
