Another question about my son .... (mental health problems) I'm sure I have read somewhere that even though he's been placed in the ESA support group he can also work & earn extra on top on his ESA ? I feel if he could do some sort of part time work it would be of benefit to him & give him a reason to get out of bed ! Hope that makes sense ! Jackie

There's permitted work. He can earn a certain amount each week.1

As @Nystagmite mentions, there is permitted work when it comes to ESA. Citizens Advice have a useful page on their website about work you can do while getting ESA, which you may find helpful.
There's also the DWP's ESA helpline which may be able to offer further support if needed. Their number is: 0800 055 6688.
