Please could you advise me on the benefits I am able to claim .
I have suffered from PTSD since an accident over 3 years ago and have not been able to work since. I have mobility issues and health issues aswell. I claim UC and have two disabled children one who’s 18 and is an undergraduate studying a level 4 course. The other is 13 and attends a special needs school.
I receive a standard amount of U C and have a disability element for each of my children. I cannot work since my accident and need some advice if there is anything else I could claim?

Thank you

hi and welcome to the community unfortunately I can't advise you on that. However I want to welcome you to the forum I would recommend that you visit the coffee lounge for a general chat or the games room for some fun.

    Hi,

When you say standard amount of UC, do you not get the LCWRA element for being unable to work?

You may also be able to claim PIP, though that isn't based on your ability to work, but instead your ability to complete certain tasks for daily living and mobility.

Hi @PinkLemonade and welcome to the online community ☺️

Citizens advice have a section on there website "check what benefits you can get" which might be helpful. I've added the link below:

    Benefits - Citizens Advice

I hope you don't mind but I've updated the post title to make it a little easier for others in the community to find your post. They might have helpful input from their personal experiences, or even benefit from the answers if they're wondering the same.

    Best wishes,

    Holly.

Have you been through the work capability assessment for UC? Does your UC include carers element for yourself for looking after one of your children?

Did you migrate from another benefit to UC? If so does your UC include any Transitional Protection?

UC is one benefit made up of many different elements and has replaced all other means tested benefit so there's nothing more you can claim. The only other benefit is a disability benefit such as PIP, unless you live in Scotland and then it will be Adult disability Payment (ADP)
