National Bubble Bath Day

Who doesn't like the idea of a nice warm bubble bath, especially during these winter months? We've had a lot of snow where I am, and it's just not melting as it's still so cold. My children love a warm bubble bath to warm up after snowman building and sledging.

National Bubble Bath Day is said to have been around for at least two decades, starting around 1999, with the purpose of encouraging self care and relaxation!

Taking a bath is known to be a relaxing experience for some people, providing an opportunity to unwind, especially after a long busy day. Many people now light candles, read, or enjoy a glass of wine whilst relaxing in a full bath of bubbles.

Don't you find that bubble baths in films always look more welcoming than your own!

In many Hollywood films, bubble baths are often a symbol of luxury and escapism. Stars like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, were said to popularized the idea, making bubble baths look glamorous.

Did you know that bubbles can actually insulate the bathwater, preserving the heat of the bath for longer.

I love the idea of a bubble bath but personally never find the time to relax in the bath, often jumping in the shower instead. But, it's a new year, so I might try to give myself more time to relax and unwind in a nice full bubble bath.

What's your go to, unwind in the bath or quick jump in the shower?

I used to like baths but can only have showers now. Bigger the bubbles the better

I have a wet room, but have learned to travel with a small bottle of bubble bath when I stay in hotels, just in case.

When my room does have one, I take full advantage having more than one bath during my stay 🛀

I always have a long bath after work, it's my decompression ritual. A great time to catch up on some youtube videos and just think about the day. 😊

I love a bath! I don't have them very often as my house is quite busy with other people, but it's one of my favourite things to do if nobody's in. I often set up my laptop on a chair in the bathroom and watch something while I'm in there relaxing 😁

There's quite a few of you who like to take the opportunity to relax in the bath, this is great and definitely making me think I will do it more often.

I hear a few people saving on the water bill by having a quick shower instead of a bath @noman, it's probably been a good few years since I had a bath too, mostly because my children use all the hot water 🤣

Baths sadly aren't always accessible for everyone, but a nice hot shower is always good to help relax muscles too 😊 I actually find standing under the shower helps when I have a migraine.

Do love a bath but It's a rare indulgence for me. I'm too impatient so I tend to shower but I did get some lovely Lush bombs for Christmas so I'll be making the most of those! 😀

I love having a bath but unfortunately mobility issues mean that I have difficulty getting in and getting out is near impossible. Showers are good are the hot water hitting my back is lovely and I like to use nice shower gels, sadly though my shower isn't working well and I don't have the money to repair it (even worse now that my hours at work have been halved 😢).

That's not good @Sham65. Why do these things always happen around the coldest times of the year! Have you looked at options for a grant from your local council to support with repairs?

Thanks for the advice, Holly. Social Services were very helpful and installed a second handrail on the stairs a few years ago. Would highly recommend for anyone having similar issues.

I don't think they would help with the shower as I already have one (they may have if I needed one and only had a bath) and there is a second one in the house that does work but it's too small. Since they have helped me already it wouldn't feel right to apply again when they are under so much financial pressure and other people need the help more than I do.

Bless you @Sham65, that's really thoughtful. I'm just wondering if there's anything they can do to your current shower to improve it? I know mine could do with work on the pressure which is starting to get annoying when I'm trying to wash my hair 😅

I love a bath with bubbles, (sometimes get some cheaper bubbles in Boxing Day sales) the wackier the better of fragrances / colours etc.

The cat sometimes sits on the edge but have to watch the tail swishing the bubbles lol.
