Hello

I am feeling overwhelmed with information to apply for a redetermination for my Disability claim. I got 6 points so only need 2 points but my downfall is that I have just got on with my life and coped with fibromyalgia without regular visits to my GP. My whole day is governed by my food and fluid intake/bowel problems/nausea and I don't often visit my GP as they just prescribe meds .(, which I take) I have had it for about 30 years and just deal with it but I didn't get the last 2 points (anxiety or toilet needs) as not enough evidence. I have now obtained my GP notes and now have 12 days left to put it together. I don't know how to word things. Has anyone else had to deal with this?

It wouldn't be DLA you've tried to claim because that has ended for new claims for those aged between 16 and state pension. It would have been PIP you claimed, unless you live in Scotland and then it would be ADP.

For PIP, it's not about the diagnosis itself, it's about how your conditions affect you. For the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) you should put that in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points.

You should also include a couple of real world examples of exactly what happened the last time you attempted each descriptor that you think applies to you. Adding detailed information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.

I'd also advise you to have a read of this and hopefully it will help you understand the criteria a little more because that will definitely help you.
