“Allowed” purchases question
hi all,
I know that with UC you can spend it how you feel, but am I ok to buy a drill for someone else to use, please?
I’m not able to use one but would like to get one so that when relatives, etc, come round to do things for me, it doesn’t matter if they forget to bring something and it’ll be at mine, ready to go.
Would that be ok, please? I just worry that during any UC review, they wouldn’t be happy that I’d spent some money on something for someone else to use, despite the fact that their using it would be to my benefit (eg putting up shelves, etc)

That is absolutely fine @FluffyCatMeow, how would they know the drill was for someone else anyhow? If it is for your benefit then you are buying the drill for you, even if you are not the person actually using it. It is a drill for your house! Sounds to me like it is for you in this instance anyway.

It wouldn't matter if the drill is for someone else either. It's your money and you can spend it on anything you want to, even gifts for other people. I give my grandchildren pocket money all the time.

Indeed, which is why I started off with saying it's absolutely fine. I was just continuing the thought of how would they know anyway, and even so it sounds like this drill is in fact for @FluffyCatMeow, as the drill is for use on their property.
