DLA for 2 year old?

I am a mother to 4 children.

My youngest daughter is 2 yesrs old and I an wondering the chance of being successful for being awarded DLA.

My daughter is under 5 different consultants (neurology, orthopaedic, Paediatrics, community Paediatrics and physiotherapy) she has a diagnosis so far of GDD, hypermobilty and talipes. She is still under investigation for further diagnosis, although we are not sure what these could be. We are awaiting genetic tests to come back and she has an MRI in the next couple of weeks. She is also being investigated for involuntary movements and spasms.

She cannot walk or talk, she requires constant supervision and assistance through the day and also throughout the night including all personal care needs, reassurance and pain relief when needed. I can be up and down up to 15 times a night at times! My partner works permanent night shifts and I work full time throughout the week. It's taking its toll on myself! She also wakes siblings so they also need attention throughout the night. She needs alot more attention that any other 2 year old I know! (My son is also 3)

I was wondering whether our claim for DLA care component would likely be accepted based of others experiences.

Thank you in advance.

It's extremely difficult but not impossible. I can't tell you whether a claim would be successful because only you know how your Childs conditions affect them.

I will say though that please remember that if you do start a claim, it's about your Childs condition and not about any other members of your family and how they are affected by the disruptions at home.

Appreciate your feedback so thank you!

It's seems like a long, scary and daunting experience applying.

But another question if you have any advice? She also has high pain tolerance (also being investigated) and has previously recieved burns treatment to her hands from a radiator incident, would stuff like this also class as evidence that can be submitted, so like treatment plans, then discharge documents?

I'm no expert when it comes to DLA so all I can advise is to send the evidence that you think it relevant to how her conditions affect her and the care and support she needs. There's guide here that may help. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/disability-living-allowance/help-with-your-dla-claim/help-with-dla-form/
