PIP reforms

Good Afternoon,

So the news is awash today with rumours of PIP payments being cut/reformed etc.

Am I right in thinking that there would need to be quite a long process before any substantial changes could be made, and that this is not something that it going to happen quickly?

Morning @Bobroy81 Yes, the media are all over this at the minute (and not always in a good way). Anything major requires legislation to be passed which can be a lengthy process of debating etc so I wouldn't expect anything to happen over night with this thankfully. 🙂

The DWP were in court because the Tories plans to remove cash payments and replace with vouchers, would've put everyone who claims PIP in poverty. I don't think Labour will try anything like that. There will be more court cases if they do!

@Holly_Scope is right. Any major change will take years to come into effect. The media have capitalised on vulnerable people being worried and they are exploiting anxiety for clicks.

PIP is going to be reformed but until the government make an official announcement that is all we know and that includes the press who thrive on scaremongering.

An official announcement is due in March.

PIP might be changing into a new/different benefit, which might be a lot harder to apply and claim.

I am having great difficulty with tribunals.

I have not been heard, and my health and disabilities are getting a lot worse.
